Concept

Design a card face that presents relevant game information in an easy to understand format around a unifying colorful theme.

Feedback

  1. After feedback sessions and surveys, the name Crazy Cats didn’t fit the game after dice were incorporated. A name change to “Cats & Dice” was needed.
  2. Since there were four different colored cards backs, each with a different meaning, we felt it necessary to add different numbers of circles on the backs of cards to help those with visual impairments better identify the different types of decks.
  3. After playtesting sessions, players complained that the black lettering was too difficult to read against the different colored backgrounds.
  4. A survey concluded that players thought the background behind the cats was too plain in comparison to the colorful elements of the game.

Revised Card Faces

Through playtesting, surveys, and player feedback sessions, I was able to take the initial designs and turn them into a working, player tested product.

Concept

Design a card face that contains graphics, and text instructions around a retro vibe theme.

Initial Design

Feedback

  1. Players felt that the picture could be bigger and maybe serve as a background instead of a blank white card for most of the space.
  2. After playtesting the game, players indicated that the text was too small to read. Players felt they were spending too much time trying to read the card as game play continued.

Revised Card Faces

After playtesting and receiving player feedback, the font size was increased to help players read and play the card faster. The pizza image was made larger to fill up more of the card to reduce the amount of white space occupying the card.
