Mission Statement
“As a UI/ UX designer, I strive to empathize with the user, develop user-centric solutions, and to refine and iterate based off of stakeholder and user feedback. Great UI/ UX design is never complete, it just helps inform you of the next iteration.”
About Me
Hello! My name is Brandon Sherrill. I am a husband to a beautiful wife going into our fifth year of marriage. I am also a father to a wild one year old son and an amazing daughter who is with God in heaven. I have a passion for creation which includes screenwriting, filmmaking, game design, and UI/ UX design. My favorite part about creative endeavors is the collaboration and teamwork that accompany the design process. When I’m not working, you can find me hiking the Sierra Nevada mountains and spending time with my family.
Design Process
Discover
The discovery phase is a crucial step in the design process. Not only is this the time I spend getting to know what the client’s vision is for the project, it’s also a time for me to begin to empathize with the end user and understand their pain points. Defining the users challenges and goals will help set up a solid foundation for the initial design.
Design
After doing research and gaining crucial information about the end user and the clients wishes, I begin the design phase of the process. Here, I determine the Key Performance Indicators that I will use to help drive the initial design. I also collaborate and work closely with the client to determine which features to prioritize and the initial information architecture.
Prototype/ Iterate
After creating rough sketches in the design phase, I move onto wireframe and low fidelity prototypes. This stage is extremely important as it saves time and resources down the road before moving on to hi-fidelity prototypes and coding. During this time, I collect feedback from the stakeholders and refine the information architecture and designs.
Refine
After making a low fidelity prototype, I move forward with my favorite part of the design process; hi-fidelity prototyping and refining. This is where the client’s vision starts to become a reality. They begin to see what they’ve had in their minds in a real clickable prototype. During this time, I conduct usability testing and evaluate the prototype for any improvements in the user experience. After collecting this data and discussing any issues with the client, we make the determination to use the information to iterate or to move forward with the current design.
